Five Cases of Cosmetics Packaging Material Innovation in China

The following cases cover five major innovation directions: degradable bio-based materials, replaceable and recyclable structures, plant fiber composites, recycled plastics, and vacuum fresh-keeping functional materials. All of them indicate domestic original R&D/production enterprises, suitable for industry research, reports and papers.

Case 1: Guangdong Gaojieli Technology — PLA Polylactic Acid Full Bio-based Degradable Cosmetics Packaging

Innovation Point: Independently developed corn/cassava-based PLA (polylactic acid) degradable cosmetics bottles to replace traditional petroleum-based plastics. After use, they can be completely degraded into carbon dioxide and water without microplastic residues. It breaks through the shortcoming of the texture of environmentally friendly packaging, achieves food-grade safety and high-transparency polishing technology, and is suitable for all categories such as sample bottles,洗护 pump bottles and high-end skin care bottles.

Application Scenario: Provides a full range of degradable packaging for domestic trendy brands such as S溪木源 (Ximuyuan) and Adolph, reducing the carbon footprint of a single packaging by more than 40%.

Case 2: Zhejiang Shengqi Industry — Fresh-keeping Replaceable Vacuum PP Packaging Materials

Innovation Point: Developed a sterile replaceable vacuum bottle made of single PP material, adopting a recyclable PP spring fresh-keeping structure to isolate air and maintain the activity of skin care products. The inner bottle can be replaced separately,reducing plastic usage by 83%, and the entire material can be directly recycled, solving the problems of difficult recycling and easy pollution of traditional multi-material packaging. It has more than 290 packaging patents.

Application Scenario: Serves Proya and CHANDO, focusing on the high-end skin care lines of serums and creams, and is a benchmark factory for recyclable vacuum packaging in China.

Case 3: Shanghai Yingshuo Packaging — Plant Fiber + Recycled Material Composite Cosmetics Packaging

Innovation Point: Two major material innovations: first, fishing net recycled plastic injection-molded powder boxes with no additional coloring and natural environmental protection; second, wood powder/rice husk/straw plant fiber composite materials used for cosmetic mirror cases and cream lids, with strong natural texture and compostable degradation. At the same time, it develops dual-material isolation packaging to accurately protect active ingredients.

Application Scenario: Creates magnetic vibration eye cream bottles for Dr. Plant and provides Chinese-style environmentally friendly cosmetics packaging for Florasis.

Case 4: Sanying Packaging (Jiangsu) — High-gloss Composite Hoses + Recyclable Aluminum-plastic Composite Hoses

Innovation Point: A leading domestic composite hose enterprise, pioneering the high-gloss aluminum-plastic composite hoses for cosmetics, achieving high appearance, high barrier and recyclability of hoses. It improves the multi-layer composite structure to block oxygen and ultraviolet rays, suitable for cosmetics such as serums, cleansers and ointments. It leads the formulation of national standards for hoses and promotes the iteration of pure aluminum hoses to environmentally friendly composite hoses.

Application Scenario: A core hose supplier for L’Oreal, Pechoin and Yunnan Baiyao, and a pioneer of cosmetic hose packaging technology in China.

Case 5: Shenzhen Hengyuhui Environmental Protection Technology — Corn Starch Composite Paper-based Packaging Materials

Innovation Point: Original corn starch composite cardboard, made from crop by-products, with stiffness comparable to traditional cardboard, 90% biodegradable in the natural environment within 6 months. It is matched with microprism UV environmental protection technology, without traditional lamination pollution, and the ink and glue are water-soluble environmental protection materials, realizing the full-link degradability of paper packaging.

Application Scenario: Customizes gift boxes and color boxes for many international plant skin care brands, with a certified carbon footprint reduction of 42%, suitable for the environmental compliance needs of cross-border cosmetics brands.
